Summary Of Features The App Will Require

Features That The Application Would Require

GEO LOCATION

Internet geolocation is software capable of deducing the geographic position of a device connected to the Internet. For example, the device's IP address can be used to determine the country, city, or post/ZIP code, determining an object's geographical location. The app will ask for a Name, Latitude, and Longitudinal and an optional description(e.g., name of temple or other metadata)

GPS NAVIGATION

The Global Positioning System (GPS is a satellite-based radionavigation system and it is  one of the global navigation satellite systems (GNSS) that provides geolocation and time information to a GPS receiver anywhere on or near the Earth where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites. In our app Latitude and Longitude can either be entered manually or by switching on the GPS.Only the GPS will be used to get locations. OSM Tracker’s WiFi-based location feature will be removed. At the app Settings level, there will be an option to set the GPS mode to either Instant or Always On. Selecting the Instant mode will warn the user: “An independent location device is recommended.” In this mode, the device’s GPS will be switched on only for specific operations and then switched off automatically.

SEARCH FUNCTIONALITY

To view the location site, the app will ask for the Name of the site and other optional description and it has a very convenient search functionality and there will be an option within the view to show names for all locations and waypoints (default: Names are hidden) and to search for Locations will be shown as a red dot. The view can be manually zoomed in/out and recentered.

SECURED DATA STORAGE

All the data  will be saved to the SD card. When reliable network connectivity is available, the user will be able to “Sync” new information to the cloud (target information set in the main app Settings, Google Drive for now). The app will only sync data that has not yet been synced (in “Saved Notes”, a tick-mark will indicate whether the information has been saved).

RECORDS MANAGEMENT

Records can be managed in the following ways. There will be three options:
  1.  Text-only: everything except audio, photos, and videos will be uploaded. This includes text Notes, Waypoints, Tracking logs, and new Locations.
  2. Manual: Text will be auto-uploaded. For every audio, photo, and video, the size will be displayed (in MB) and the user will have a check-box to indicate whether to upload or not (default: checked).
  3. All: Every new item will be synced. We can edit and also changes can be made for the existing record or the location of the site.

GEOFENCING

Geofencing is a location-based service in which an app or other software uses GPS, RFID, Wi-Fi or cellular data to trigger a pre-programmed action when a mobile device or RFID tag enters or exits a virtual boundary set up around a geographical location, known as a geofence.  Geofencing uses different types of targeting to identify geo-location such as zip codes, street addresses, GPS coordinates using latitude and longitude, as well as IP targeting.

LESS INTERNET USE

  1. Restrict App background data
  2. Use data compression in Chrome
  3. Cache Google Maps for offline use
When you are on Wi-Fi, open Google Maps, go to Menu, and select “Offline Maps. There you can tap on “Select your own map and zoom in or out to select the area you want to be available offline.

Once you’ve decided upon the area, press “Download.

LESS POWER CONSUMPTION

  1. Turn off the Always-On display feature (if your smartphone has it).
  2. Turn off Bluetooth ,Wi-Fi,data and other sensors when not in use.
  3. Keep your apps up-to-date.
  4. Stop apps from running in the background.
  5. Turning off auto-brightness.

DISTANCE

The View will include a “Distance” button (Euclidean distance to target Location from present location in meters rounded to the nearest integer) and will update this distance every 30 seconds. Clicking the distance button will allow the update frequency to be changed. OSM Tracker’s existing tracking facility will be used to automatically log the track.
